“The Road to Guantanamo”, is one of the best truth revealing movies out there. It is a part movie, a part documentary and is a real eye opener for the people who do not have a lot of information on the social issues of the world. This movie is based on true experiences of courageous individuals, who were treated like many others still present in the Guantanamo Bay. The film introduces a unique documentary and movie style, with characters describing their story as the movie progresses.

This movie is rated R for language and disturbing violent content, and should be viewed by mature audience.

The movie focuses on the aspects of War on Terror situation, and explains the true story of some England natives who faced some serious consequences when they traveled to Pakistan. There they were invited by human activists to support the Taliban, and they went to Afghanistan to help the cause, unaware of the consequences they would have to face. While they were in Afghanistan, US strikes on Kabul began, and soon they were trapped in the midst of the battlefield. When they tried to return, they were misled into battlefield, and where they were arrested and detained by US Military. They were transferred to a prison, where they were charged with crimes they didn’t commit. Then they were transferred to Guantanamo Bay, where they were trailed against crooked evidences of interaction with Al-Qaeda and asked for information on Al-Qaeda, and were tortured there.

The actors were Pakistanis, who played the roles of Shafiq, Ruhel, Asif and Monir (and there were others). It is directed by two famous directors, Mat Whitecross and Michael Winterbottom.

The cinematography and lightning was quite real and live, and special effects were not used unnecessarily, which gave the movie originality.

The movie is a must watch for the people who are interested in Current Affairs and issues/crisis, and War on Terrorism.
